What is Longarm University?

Longarm University is where teachers and students come together to learn the art of longarm quilting.

Where is Longarm University located?

Longarm University is located about 20 miles south of Seattle, WA and about 8 miles from Sea-Tac (Seattle) airport in Kent, WA. It is in a semi-rural area about half way between Seattle and Tacoma, WA. Longarm U is close to lodging, restaurants and RV accommodations.

Workshops and classes are held in a professional longarm quilter's studio. By having classes in a quilting studio, you get to see how a quilter has her studio set up and how she works on a daily basis.

How large are the classes?

Each workshop has a maximum of 6 students Classes are a combination of hands-on, demonstration and lectures and each instructor gives many class handouts with their classes.

What types of quilting machines are used at Longarm University?

At Longarm U we use a Gammill Classic Plus longarm quilting machine. Longarm University does not endorse any specific brand of quilting machines. ALL the quilting machines that are on the market are good, well made machines. Longarm University instructors are familiar will ALL machine types. If you have a machine (or are thinking of purchasing a machine) which is different from the one used in class, that's all right. The instructors will tell you when procedures would be different on your machine.

What is the cost for the workshops and what is included?

The tuition for each workshop varies. Included in the tuition is -- all teachers fees, workshop materials, lunch on class days, snacks, and soft drinks. There are also many extras: class binders, class handouts, certificates, etc. that are included in the tuition.

Cindy Roth has been running a successful machine quilting business and has been teaching longarm quilting classes for over 25 years! She is an talented and innovative quilter and has won many awards during her quilting career.

How do I register for a workshop?

You can register on line (prefered),  by mail or by phone. Longarm University accepts Visa, Master Card, personal and business checks, traveler’s checks and money orders.

 To register online go to the Registration Page. Choose your workshop / class and click on the "Add to Cart" button. You will be taken to the secure Shopping Cart page. Proceed with the Registration process by clicking the "Continue" button at the bottom of each page.

To register for workshops by mail start the online registration process. On the shopping cart form, in the Payment Method section, click "Offline - Mail or Telephone". Continue filling out the online order form. Then, on the LAST page, you will be able print the page and can mail it in with your payment.

No matter how your register, you will receive a confirmation that you are enrolled in the class shortly after the Registration Form is received. Approximately 2 weeks before your class date you will receive class information, what to bring, directions to Longarm U, etc.

Tell me about the Longarm University Bookstore.

As longarm quilters, we need specialized items and supplies for our quilting business. These supplies such as patterns, threads, notions, etc., are not readily available in one place. The Longarm University® Bookstore brings these specialized supplies together in one place. I am always on the lookout for new and exciting items that will appeal to longarm quilters.
