This absolutely amazing quilt was pieced by Shelley H, Newark, DE. Shelley had seen samples of my quilting online and we corresponded for a while about her quilt. She sent the quilt to me for quilting.

Here is a full view of the quilt, which measured 72 x 87 inches.

Each block was pieced by another person and signed by them.

The colors in this photo don't do justice to the quilt.

Here is the top row of the quilt. I used Madeira Gold high sheen polyester thread for a lot of the quilting.

Here are the side blocks, again quilted with the Madeira threads

This is the center panel. I simply quilted on top of what was printed on the fabric, using both black and gold Madeira thread.

There is stitching in the white birds in front of the moon.

Here is the bottom row of blocks.

This is a close up of the Ying Yang quilting done in the sashings and the inner and outer borders.

To make these designs I used the Longarm U Sashiko Circles templates. For the Outer Border I used the 2 inch / 4 inch diameter Sashiko Circles template. For the inner border I used the 2 inch diameter circles and the 1 inch diameter Sashiko Circles Template.

All the stitch in/near the ditch was done free hand.

The back of the quilt

The backing fabric is a luscious, solid black cotton sateen fabric. In the photos the backing fabric looks gray, but it isn't!

Here is the center panel and the side blocks from the back of the quilt.

I love the look of the gold thread on the black backing fabric.

The lower half of the center panel and the bottom row of blocks from the back of the quilt.

One more photo - This is the side border and I wanted to show the details of the Ying Yang quilting.
